Coming out of Holker Hall gardens having enjoyed the rhododendrons in full flower I stopped to take a photo of the Victorian postbox and with perfect timing postie parked his van across the road, walked down the hill and towards the door of this house in Cark post in hand. My cup runneth over.

Why are all our postmen wearing shorts nowadays? Even in the cold and rain. Is it a fashion statement?
It was certainly the perfect day for shorts but you are right they must be a tough bunch because rain or shine the shorts make an appearance. My pet hate is the hi-vis jackets which makes them look as though they have just come from a construction site.
