Year of the Snake

2025:Year of the Snake (Artist - Jo Davies)
This year's Lunar New Year is one of the Wood Snake. The snake is perceived as having a dual nature representing danger but also good fortune, light and dark. Because snakes shed their skins it is also associated with transformation and rebirth.  Wood adds the elements of nurturing and growth.  The Isle of Man's FDC insert gives us Jo Davies' inspiration of the elements contained in the stamps.

and a grass snake (I'm guessing the endangered designation refers to Hungary). On the other hand Orsini's Viper are a rare species (also called Meadow Adders) which are found in France, Italy and much of Eastern Europe.  Although snakes are fascinating to me

these lizards are more endearing  - Sand Lizard and Green Lizard

The pink image next to the stamps is so pretty, which I would have never said about a snake. I do like lizards. Great collection!

The first are very pretty, however their human-like eyes put me off them! I think snakes are beautiful. I wouldn't want one, having to feed them mice, or rats, or rabbits, depending on their size. I've had some very nice pet rats bought from the feeder supplies. But, I do admire the patterns and colors on a snake.

Glad to have the explanation of the stamps, although it seems a bit complicated to me.

I must say that I enjoy more when snakes are on stamps, than actually near me :)

I agree that lizards are more endearing. Though the sleeping beauty with different coloured eyelashes is rather fetching.

I do like the lizard stamps! I don't think I ever got a lizard or snake stamp via Postcrossing, when I was active.
