Christmas Greetings

See It On A Postcard's Thursday Postcard Hunt is celebrating Christmas

A mysterious document. Is it a map, a carol sheet, an address or a list? Whatever it is Christmas is arriving.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

The presents are under the tree.

Christmas wishes are exchanged

and our hearts are warm. The stamp's red heart and dots glisten under the light.

Thanks for showing the closeup of the Åland stamp. Festive cards - is the wicker (?) animal a goat?

It does look like he's reading a map! I like the Swedish straw goats.

Both beautiful cards. I do like the style of the Aland card.

Yes that is a Yule goat, a popular Christmas decoration in Sweden and the Swedish speaking Aland Islands. Its origin goes back to pagan times.

I see that you got a Christmas card from my land. I live in Åland that belongs to Finland, not Sweden. Very nice card!

I think that it is a list of addresses and children, just to be sure he brings the right toys to everyone. Nice to see a Father Christmas different from the more recent (red) ones!

I've been following the Swedish goat Gavlebocken on twitter (but they didn't as much this year as in previous, At least it 'survived' and wasn't burnt down!). I haven't seen Santa use a written list - I always thought he must have it memorized.

Yes I knew they were part of Finland but was under the impression the islanders first language was Swedish which is why I referred to them as Swedish speaking, clumsily trying to imply they were not Swedish but had a cultural connection. Unfortunately what is in my head does not always translate into the real world:) Aland Post Jul cards are a treat.
