An Post's Christmas theme in 1995 was the illuminated manuscripts of Benedotto Bardone (1460-1531)
considered the last of the great manuscript illuminators.
Lastly a day to celebrate in church and one of the 43 'Painters of Canada' Christmas serigraphs originally created for Coutts/Hallmark Cards in 1931.

That set of stamps from 1998 is wonderful. I'd love to see more of this kind of creativity on stamps around the holidays.

The stained glass effect is beautiful on the Swedish set. (As is the intricate star cancellation!)
The Irish ones are so brilliantly coloured.
The Canadian one is ... meh. (in my humble opinion, but I prefer lots of detail)
What a present it would have been to receive that Swedish set.
